Name That Novel #8 -- Back to the Classics

Returning to the past and another great, widely read classic: Title and Author, please.

"We didn't touch an oar, and we didn't speak nor whisper, nor hardly even breathe. We went gliding swift along, dead silent, past the tip of the paddle-box, and past the stern; then in a second or two more we was a hundred yards below the wreck, and the darkness soaked her up, every last sign of her, and we was safe, and knowed it."

Good luck to all!

Congrats to Cara for the correct answer: Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain.

Congrats to Cara! This one didn't even "cool down" before you got the answer in! Great job.

And don't fret about it, Bob. The odds are with you, if you keep checking back and trying ;-)

Cara,if I hadn't had a meeting run by a lady who's always going to get to the point and never does, I might have beaten you.
Rats, foiled again!

I'm obsessive about checking my email and google reader. I got my answer in less than an hour after the challenge was posted. Every time I get one of these right, I feel much better about my self education. (Remember, I was a biology major. I only studied English Romantic Poetry and Prose in college.) Thanks, teacherwriter. Oh, it also helped that I've read this book twice.
