My guess as to the author would be Maya Angelou or Flannery O'Connor. As to the title, I'm clueless.
Getting close... this female author is probably more famous for her prose. In fact, one such effort crossed over into the world of cinema.
I almost guessed Alice Walker and would have if I had remembered to return to make a second guess!
