I came across a site that talks about clustering your thoughts, ideas, etc. It refers to the right brain/left brain concept. When you need to get your creative juices flowing -- there in your right brain -- try clustering the ideas that pop into your head. You can web them -- those words and thoughts -- and then see if that will help you to write about, well, whatever it is your creative side is trying to tell you to write about! Anyway, it's worth a look. So check it out and see what you think. And a Happy Turkey Day to all :-).
Here's the website: http://www.meadecomm.com/clustering.html

yeah, this site. have you tried it with your students already? i find it amazing for words flow; i even did it for several times! but my problem is how to apply the words together to produce some sense.
anyway, i'm still figuring it out. just dropped by to thank you again for sharing the site. :)
Ah, haven't seen this technique for a while. I should use this more often...
Michael.
Another interesting site is http://www.notebookinhand.com -we'd be happy to have a link to your blog from you!
Ares...haven't tried it yet. I will work it into the next writing we do. They keep journals and have to deal with completing writing prompts in 5 to 10 minutes. They moan and groan, but usually accomplish some semblance of thought :) Can't wait to see the results of clustering. And you are right...putting those webbed thoughts into beautiful prose is yet another obstacle. Good luck to you.
Chiara...I added a new section to my blog that includes your notebook site to the list of interesting places to view. I like the concept as it includes all areas of artistic endeavor. I will visit and participate. Hope you return here often. And thanks for visiting.
